Last week I stitched a palazzo pants for one of my friend. And I thought to share how to draft a palazzo pants tutorial with my dear readers. So today we will see drafting of palazzo pants pattern. The video link of the palazzo pants cutting tutorial.
Palazzo pants pattern making :
Material required for making palazzo pants draft :
- Measure tape
- Chalk
- Plain paper
- Elastic band
Measurements for palazzo pants:
- Hip round 38″
- Waist round 36″
- Mohri / Ankle round 30″
- Length of palazzo pants 40″
- Total length – waist band height = 40 – 3 = 37
Fabric required for sewing palazzo pant 2.5 mtrs.
In this post I’ll show you how to draft the pattern of palazzo pant on paper. If you wish you can directly draw it on your fabric also.
Palazzo pants marking :
- 1 – 2 Hip round /3
- 2 – 3 Hip round /3
- 3 – 4 Hip round /3
- A is the mid point of 3 – 4
- A – 7 Hip round /4
- Draw a straight line from 5 – A – 7 – 6
- 5 – 6 length of palazzo pant + 1″ { 37″ + 1″ }
- 8 – 9 Hip round /3 – 1
- 6 -10 AND 6 – 11 Mohri/4 +1
- 4 – B 2″ outside.
- Join B – 9 -11
- 1″ diagonally from 4
- Draw a curve from 1- B. This is front curve.
- B – C = 2″
- 1 – D = 2″ above
- Join D – 2
- 1/2″ diagonally from 4
- Draw a curve from D – C
- 11 – 12 = 2 “
- 2″ outside of point 9 also.
- Draw line from C to 12
- Pleats in the middle of 1 -5 AND 5 – 2
This completes the drafting of palazzo pants at home .
Waistband of palazzo pants:
Length of waistband = waist round + 2″
Height of waistband = 4″
Cutting of palazzo pants:
- Start cutting from 10 -8 -3-2 -D -1 – C – 12. This is the back of palazzo pants
- Start cutting from 10 -8 -3-2 -1 – B- 9 -11. This is the front of palazzo pants.
Cutting of waistband:
- From the left over fabric cut a long strip of the length of waistband.
- And the height of 4″.
Here we finish the drafting of palazzo pants pattern at home. In my next post we will see the cutting and sewing of the palazzo pants.

Hi, your tutorials are really helpful, I want to ask whenever you use the formulas in pants it is divided by 3 e.g Hip/3, in most cases the body measurements are divided by 4 e.g waist/4

Hello
I have a question Gurmeet .why the straight pant and plazoo cuttin from upper side is not same.you took thigh round at 1/3 of seat while in straight pant it is at a distance of 1/4 of seat.similarly u ssubtract 3 inches from total while in straight pant it was -2. The back is 2 inch longer while in straight pant it was 1 inch.the cutting of ahsan is also different from straight pant. Logically the person is same then y different cutting from upper side
Thanks
Rabiya

Dear Rabiya,
First of all A THANKS from me for asking this question.
I have shown the draft in 2 different ways. The output will be same. So if you take thigh round or hip round the pattern can be drafted.
I want the people to learn both the ways. So I drafted the palazzo pants and straight cut ladies pants in 2 different ways.
Hope you will keep visiting our website and the youtube channel 🙂
