A churidar dress is traditional costume, worn by most of us. Churidar pants can go with anarkali, long kurtis. Churidar is one of the variant of the salwar. Salwar pants have a wide top and narrower bottom, wheras the churidars have a narrow and fitting style. Churidar pants have minimal pleats at the waist.
Salwar are cut on normal length wise while the churidar pants are cut on the bias to make them stretchable. Churidar have more length. Due to this more length of the pants, chudidar pants falls like folds and appears like bangles on the ankle. And this is how it got the name Chudidar – Chudi means bangle. It is also spelt as Churidar.
