Enough of my own trumpet blowing.
Today we will learn about princess cut kameez. Usually princess cut kameez has no side openings but if you want side openings you can do it.I always prefer princess cut with side openings.
Instructions:
Draft the pattern on paper as explained in my kurti tutorial. But there will be some variations as mentioned below.

2-10=24/26″ or as desired
3-B= 1/4″
3-12=5″or you can also take the midpoint of 3-11 it depends
on you where you want the starting point of cut.
13 is the mid-point of 6-7.
14 is the mid-point of 2-10.
5-c and 10-d =1″seam allowance.Cut the draft along this line.So paper pattern ready 🙂
Now cut along the curved line i.e 12-13-14 name both the part as I named them in blue square A and B.
Cutting:
If you wanna sides open, you will need front draft of princess cut and back part of our normal top/kurti.So first cut the back part and keep aside. Now keep the A part on folded side and cut it.Keep the B part on selvedge side and cut so you are having 2 pieces of B part.Immediately pin up all the 3 part and your front pinned part is ready.
If you wanna sides closed, you will need front and back both draft of princess cut.Cut as explained above. In this case you will have with you 2 pieces A part and 4 pieces of B part.Pin up all at once or else it might confuse you.
Cut the sleeves.
Stitching:
First of all keep the right side of A and B together stitch the A and B part.If you want you can also attach piping in between. In below snap you can see I’ve attached piping and also it is open from sides.Make necklines.Attach sleeves. And sew as usual.Sides closed or open sew as required.
Hope you loved the journey.Share with me your views.

I have attached a yoke of banarasi fabric in neckline, sleeves, and in bottom. And also I had a lace which was matching with fabric so I attached that too.

Happy Blogging

Could you just tell how to stitch the front part without piping?
Dear Shan,
Just sew part A with part B. I mean skip attaching piping. And simply sew both the parts.
This is sooooo beautiful, dear Gurmeet!
I´m German and I´m looking for a Salwar Kameez pattern, top and trousers. I love Indian clothes! I´m rather skilled in sewing, but I never made a pattern by myself. I think trousers are not so difficult, but kameez seems to be a challenge!
Much Love from Germany,
Mira

Yes, it should be 1/4 “. Updated the post.
