Hi…..Friends,
Today will see how to stitch anarkali. Hey!! you might be thinking this I taught you previously naa then again revision…nope
Well we will learn anarkali with half bodice, which is quite in vogue.
Draft of half bodice:
The instructions will be same as that of simple kurti.
1-6=length of bodice (as desired) +1″.I prefer 14″ ready.
7-A= 1/2″ and make a curve.
Rest measurements as usual.Cut the bodice in little curved shape as shown.
Draft of kali.
A-B=3″ seam allowance included.
C-D=7″ seam allowance included.
A-C=length of kali (as desired) +1″.I keep it 24″.
Fabric required: 4 Mtrs + Lining fabric 3 Mtrs.
We will need total of 10 kalis.5 for each front and back respectively. If you want more voluminous Anarkali you can take more kalis.
Layout and cutting of kalis.
While cutting the kalis match the designs of fabric properly. If you are using plain fabric don’t worry 🙂
Stitching:
Cut the half bodice from fabric and lining material.
Stitch the necklines and attach front and back.
Stich the sleeves with the bodice.
Stich the sleeves with the bodice.
Join the kalis by keeping one right side on another right side and stitch along the line A-C.Join all the 5 kalis and cut in the curve shaped as shown by red line.
Keep ready 5 kalis for front and back each. Now keep this joined kalis on lining fabric and cut the lining along all the four sides.Attach the lining with the kalis.

Now join front kali with front bodice and back kali with back i.e along the line 6-7 of bodice..And finally sew the sides starting from sleeves till the end of kali .Lastly attach a fancy lace on C-D of kalis or simply fold it inside.

how much fabric will be required to make a floor length anarkali
Gurmeet Kaur says
Dear Candida,
What’s the length for anarkali?
Palak says
Hi,
I have a questions.
Lets say I have 45′ of fabric, and cut it in to 3-4 panels. does that mean I’ll get approx 80″ of flare out of it?
I’m not sure how to put it in words. but i hope you’d understand my question.
Looking forward in hearing from you.
Thank you,
Palak
Gurmeet Kaur says
Dear Palak,
The flare from 3-4 panels will be about 28″ . Flare of the anarkali is directly related with the number of kalis. So more the kalis more the flare.

sudha says
Please make correct on. If we give pleats it will not look good nice finish. How can we attach borders.
sudha says
Hi
Thank you for your explanation.
I have one doubt. How can I attach ready embrioder borders on kalis upward. I am asking because after attaching kalis the shape becomes like umbrella. Borders are straight. If we give pleats it will good nice finish. Please give me instruction.
Gurmeet Kaur says
Dear Sudha,
After sewing all kalis cut the end part of kalis and make sure they all have equal length. After that attach border and take pleats of small pinch like and you don’t have to take many pleats. Only 2-4 will be needed.

Anarkali salwar suits feature include a kameez that is fitted to the bust and then flows downwards, with long wide pleats – like an umbrella. Anarkalis as a word owe their origin to pomegranate foils. Anarkalis have also been immortalised a slave girl because of her love affair with Mughal Emperor’s son, Jehangir.
Anu Mol says
