Today we will see how to stitch boat neck. Sewing boat neckline is quite easy. The method of sewing kurti neckline is also the same. So you can follow the same method for how to stitch kurti, kameez neckline.

How to cut boat neckline was explained in my previous post. The link of the post. So now you are ready with the front and back boat neckline.

Boat neck stitching

First we will draw the neckline shape on canvas.

Materials required to draw the boat neck:

1. Fusing canvas (buckram)
2. Chalk
3. French curve (optional)
4. Front and back neckline (cut on fabric)

How to make boat neck

• For front boat neckline cutting
• 1 – 2 = 6.5″
• 1 – 3 = 5″ ( FOLDED SIDE)
• For back boat neckline cutting
• 1 – 2 = 6.5″
• 1 – 3 = 4″ ( FOLDED SIDE)
• 1 – A is the neckline width
• A -B = 0.25″ or you can say 1/4″
• B – C = 1″

How to draft neckline

1. First of all take your fusing canvas.
2. Fold it from 1-2
3. This is the width of the canvas.
4. 1-3 is the height of the canvas. This will be on folded side.
5. Now keep your front neckline on canvas.
6. Mark 1 – A the neckline width.
7. Trace the neckline shape from A to a, as shown in the above image. A to a is boat neckline shape , drawn by keeping the fabric on canvas.
8. From point A mark 0.25″ and name it as B. Draw the neckline shape from B to b, as shown in the above image.
9. From point B mark 1″ and name it as C. Draw the neckline shape from C to c, as shown in the above image.
10. Cut the neckline shape from B – b.
11. Cut the neckline shape from C – c.

Boat neck stitching method:

1. Take the neckline and place it on extra fabric.
2.  Iron it on the fabric.
3. Keep the kurti and trace the neckline on the extra fabric. Cut the shape.
4. Sew the outer edges of the neckline canvas.
5. Align the center of kurti neckline with the neckline curve.
6. Sew along the edge of canvas. Don’t sew on the canvas.
7. Finish sewing of both necklines.
8. Now join the shoulders.
9. Sew the sleeves and slits of kurti.
10. And you boat neck kurti is ready!!!!
